Come and join a fun group to discuss a book everyone has read for the past month. The book is chosen from a variety of genres. It isn't always a mystery or a romance or a western. It could be one of these or it could have some elements of all of these and more.
Join us this month as we read and discuss Flags on the Bayou by James Lee Burke set in Civil War era Louisiana. An enslaved women named Hanna, accused of murder, goes on the run with an abolitionist schoolteacher dodging the law among the swampy Louisiana bayous. They encounter a surgeon from the Civil War haunted by what he experienced who has returned to his family's plantation to recuperate. He becomes entranced by Hanna. This page turner is about plantation gentry, battle-weary Confederate and Union soldiers, and a blossoming love story.
All About Books meets on Wednesday Oct. 18th from 10:30-11:30am.
