Purpose of Meeting

Presented by Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

Grades K-3rd-Artist Expression:  Create a poster that expresses what Black History Means to You.  The posters will be displayed throughout the Black History program.

Grades 4th -8th-Essay Writing:  Write an essay (100-150 words) about a Black Inventor or Scientist that explains how Black inventors/Scientists impacted America,

Grade 9th-12th – Poetry and Readings; The student will pick a poem or writings of a Black Author and perform 1- 2 minutes live expression of the piece that they chose. 

Adults- Poetic Expressions: Adults will provide 1-5 minutes of live poetic expressions of popular poems written by Black Authors.  Adult participation is meant to enhance the program and create an opportunity for all ages to participate.

Program Schedule

10:00 AM-11:00 AM – Posters from grades K-3rd grade will be displayed for the community to view.

11:30 AM-12:30 AM- Students from grades 4th – 8th will read their essays for the community to hear.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM – Students from grades 9th -12th will perform their poetic expressions for the community to hear,

The Adults will perform their poetic expressions throughout the program after the children from each segment have made their presentations.

 

All participants will receive a certificate from Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta for participation.

The participants will contact Gamma Alpha Upsilon Zeta by Feb 16, 2022, at gammaalphaupsilonzeta@gmail.com to indicate their desire to participate.

Refreshments will be served throughout the day.
