Are you a knitter who wants to advance their skills? In this FREE class, you’ll learn how to read your knitting and fix your mistakes without ripping out all of your work and starting over!
(Important note: this is not a beginner knitting class; this is for folks who already know at least the basics of knitting and wish to advance their skills. If you’re looking for beginner lessons, there’s a group that meets at the library Tuesdays at 1 pm.)
You’ll learn how to:
Know the difference between garter and stockinette
Recognize if a stitch is oriented correctly on your needle, and fix it if not
Recognize a twisted stitch and fix it
What to do if your needle gets pulled out of your work
How to fix a dropped stitch
And an explanation of what “tink” means, and how to do it
Registration is required, as you’ll receive an email with directions for knitting that must be done ahead of class and brought with you.
Please bring a swatch with you to class that’s knit from yarn that’s not “sticky” and if possible, is a solid color. Worsted weight is the easiest to work with for this class. Your swatch should be knit as follows:
Cast on (any method is fine) 30 stitches and knit about 2” of stockinette (knit on front, purl on back). Keep your stitches on your needles as you’ll need them for class. Please try not to knit super tightly, as that will make it difficult to work with.
Please bring a crochet hook with you if you have one; I will bring some just in case.
